I love the business model that I use personally and teach to my clients. Some refer to it as “information marketing,” but I think it’s simply the best way for a solopreneur to create the business and life they desire. It all stems around the good old Marketing Funnel and how to use it properly.
The information industry is fueled by the everyday pressure of peoples’ lives and their need to get things done quickly and efficiently. In an information marketing business, you provide the expertise and guidance that your clients need to solve a particular issue they are experiencing. This can be done in a variety of ways via teleseminars, e-books, e-courses, telecoaching programs, live workshops, continuity programs, newsletters, DVDs, CDs and books, among others.
So what exactly is “information marketing” anyway? In the simplest of terms, it is a business model that allows your clients and prospects to have access to you and your knowledge through a variety of means and price points. To achieve maximum success, you do this by utilizing what is referred to as a “marketing funnel,” whereby you create a free offer to pull potential prospects into your sales funnel.
Imagine the marketing funnel as a triangle with the largest part at the top and the smallest point at the bottom. At the top of the funnel is where you want to have as many prospects as possible flowing into your business. At the bottom of your funnel (the point) is your highest priced product or service. In between the top and bottom are various levels of products and services at different price points. Usually there are more people who will be conducting business with you towards the top of your funnel than at the bottom. The point of creating a marketing funnel is to move your VIP clients from the top of the funnel down to the bottom point and to have steady repeat clients who stay in the middle. The focus of all of your marketing efforts is to have qualified prospects enter your funnel at the top and then channel them down to the higher priced point items by offering them different products and services along the way.
To get potential new clients into your marketing funnel, the best way is to offer a “hook” or a free offer of some kind. In my work with my clients, one of the first things we do is discuss their “hook” and either make sure their current offer is compelling or create a new one to boost their sales levels.
Basically it all boils down to this: without a properly functioning Marketing Funnel, you will never achieve the level of sales you desire. Plain and simple.
